The Minutes, Single Launch at The Academy, Dublin 2012

I was lucky enough to snare myself a ticket to The Minutes gig on 11th of February in The Academy, Dublin. Having seen the guys a few times now, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with the show.

The gig was for their single release “Heartbreaker” from their album “Marcata” which has been getting really great airplay over the last year. The lads were supported by Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters, and Leaders of Men on the night.

The gig was started out by the riotous, Fox Jaw Bounty Hunters who had a good combination of up-tempo and down beat melodic songs. The lads hail from Limerick and have been busy touring with their album “The Devil in Music” not just in Ireland but in London and Canada also. Leaders of Men were on just before The Minutes, as you might know these lads won Arthur’s Day last year and have been busy with gigs around Dublin and recording the self titled EP. Their crescendo of music definitely got the crowd going before The Minutes came on.

The Minutes came on stage with roars of approval and they tore up that stage! Playing Heartbreaker, Fleetwood and a couple of new songs, they kept the gig goers wanting more. When they played Black Keys, Mark (vox) cleared up once and for all to the journalists out there “that the songs was not about the fucking Black Keys!” With their heavy, gritty rock sound, these guys are keeping Rock ‘n’ Roll alive! They ended the night with Guilt, Quilt which is my favorite song on the album. With trippy, psychedelic visuals going on behind them, the last song took the house down, with Shane trashing his drums at the end and ripping his bass drum skin. Overall the night was a great success for The Minutes and no doubt we will be hearing more from them in 2012.

As always thanks for reading
