Arcade Fire @ Electric Picnic 2011
Electric Picnic 2011 was somewhat of a homecoming for Arcade Fire, one in which they were welcomed back with open arms. Having played at EP in 2005 at the beginning of their surge into international success, Arcade Fire were eager to return to this treasured festival.
Opening the night with the elating “Wake Up” the Stradbally audience was instantly captivated and visibly ecstatic. The band...

Public Enemy @ Electric Picnic 2011
This years Electric Picnic was filled with clashes to no end, and clashes of titans to be more precise. From the new school to the old school, my aim for the weekend was to catch the happiest Canadians on the planet as Arcade Fire made their extremely welcome return to the picnic after their 2005 debut. Warpaint @ Electric Picnic 2011
Like everyone else I discovered Warpaint late last year but it wasn’t until during the stressful time of my FYP (final year project or thesis) that I truly and utterly started falling in love with them. Opening her performance to the clanging rhythms of‘Jerome’, busting out moves to ‘Youth Knows No Pain’ and ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’ Lykke Li commanded the stage with her electrifying...

Flying Lotus @ Electric Picnic 2011
So, this is how Saturday night of Electric Picnic panned out for me. Four and a half hours well(ish) spent in the Big Little Tent loosing my mind to some very fine Techno (Dave Clarke), disappointing house/uplifting techno from Paul Kalkbrenner - man that sucked however… the night was saved by an absolutely incredible fusion of jazz, hip hop, garage and videogame sounds brought to us by Steven...

Dave Clarke @ Electric picnic 2011
“Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm “…. I thought to myself a few weeks ago looking at the EP 2011 line up… “Dave Clarke. That’s a very un- electric picnic booking” I mused to myself…. “might even go for the Schneer”. Dave Clarke….. for many of us, is almost an unmet best friend that we’ve all know for years. Truth be told he was the catalyst that pushed me into techno. Over 10 years ago his World Service CD was...
