Return of the Drums
Following the announcement of their sophomore album ‘Portamento’ last week, marmite surf rockers The Drums today unveiled the video to their new single ‘Money’. The band stick pretty rigidly to the formula that saw them become the buzz band of the year last year but don’t really seem to bring anymore to the table on this track. Fans of the old stuff will love this. The album is due for release September 12th on Moshi Moshi, see what you think of this..
SOnance Hotel
I meant to mention this last week but I was far too tired to continue writing. SOnance Hotel is the first solo offering from Dubliner Brian Gallagher probably best known for his drumming with Humanzi or his drumming and keyboard playing with the irrepressable Mighty Stef. The album ‘Don’t Look behind You’ was released last week on Dublin’s The First Born is Dead Recordings. The songs themselves, which are a world away from the krautrock inspired Humanzi seep so easily into your conciousness and sit there like songs you’ve known for years. The Irish Times described it as ”one of the best, most impressively potent Irish albums of the year so far”. Check out ‘Living Is for Dreaming’ here. As that Elvis guy on Come Dine with Me said “the proof is in the pudding”..
Living Is For Dreaming by sonancehotelI think that might be sun shining outside so I’m gonna go see what that looks like for now, more tunes later this week.

On a bright sunny Friday in June, the Flip It TV crew went on an intrepid trip up to what will now be referred to as sheep country. Ha! What we’re actually talking about is Sligo and a little festival called No Place Like Dome. If you haven’t heard of NPLD, well let us fill you in.
Toro Y Moi Freaking Out In September!
For someone so robustly associated with the “Chillwave movement”, Toro Y Moi aka Chad Bundwick doesn’t seem to take too much time to chill for himself. Having earlier this year released sophomore album “Underneath the Pine” to general acclaim, Chad last week announced the release of a new EP entitled “Freaking Out”. Due in the shops this September, “Freaking Out” promises to expose a more dance floor friendly side to his music. Fans of Toro Y Moi’s distinctive brand of upbeat synth driven indie stylings will not be disappointed with a taster in the form of the song “Saturday Love”, which is available to download free of charge from the Toro Y Moi soundcloud page.
Check out the track here, it may just brighten up your Monday!
Soft Metals debut LP
Sticking with synths, Portland based electro duo Soft Metals release their self-titled debut on July 19th on Brooklyn label Captured Tracks. Fans of dreamy 80’s keyboard driven love songs or acts like Austra or Ladytron may find that this is a cup of tea that goes down very well indeed. Check out “Psychic Driving” here.
We are Losers set to win.
Kildare band We are Losers have just last week released a single on pretty decent UK indie label Dance to the Radio. The band, who know how to deliver a hectic live show look set for big things. The single is available for download from their bandcamp page right now.. Throw an ear to it!

Righto, I think that’s enough of me burning the midnight oil for now.

Just got back from the festival, I just want to say a huge thankyou to everyone who came to see us! We managed to pack out the tent despite the Metallica clash and had an amazing show.
I only managed to see a few bands over the weekend, obviously Biffy Clyro and Weezer were amazing, it was the…
